Renegades
& Rebels
The Imperial Creed mandates that in the name of purity and survival, all of Humanity must be brought within the Imperium of Man and worship the God-Emperor of Mankind. This authoritarian rule, including its tithes and suppression of planetary customs, can breed discontent which comes to the fore with political Renegades and Rebels.
Unlike those who fall to the sway of Chaos, Renegades are individuals or groups who defy the established order and political norms of the Imperium. They may be rebels, dissidents, or outlaws challenging unjust laws, corruption, tithes, or religious dogma.

- Renegades often seek to overthrow the ruling powers of the corrupt Imperium and establish their own order or government which is far less discriminatory, exploitative, or prone to persecution. Being far outnumbered, however Renegades are forced to use covert tactics like sabotage, as opposed to direct confrontation,

- Motivated by a variety of factors, including political ideology, personal beliefs, and the desire to bring about change or resist oppression, Renegades are the ‘underdogs’ and outcasts of society. They are also prime targets for the secretive Inquisition who will use sabotage, terrorism, and assassination if they catch a hint of rebellion on even the most backwater of worlds. Operating in cells, many Renegade groups isolate themselves and work together tentatively, out of fear that the Inquisition will infiltrate their ranks.

- Agitated to rebel against the Imperium, Renegades may be unaware of outside forces motivating them to cast off the shackles of the Imperium. After all, without the massive support of the Imperium a world can become quick-pickings for a Traitor warband or alien raiding party. Renegades are not blind to this, and know the risks of befriending Chaos or Xenos influences — but sacrifices must be made, sometimes… which is a quick path to becoming a Gue’Vesa, Traitor Guard, or something else entirely…
